ISPS Handa Senior Masters Day 1
Day 1 of the Handa Senior Masters is now finished and what a wonderful day it was for everyone involved. The sun shone and the course looked in immaculate condition. We have a tie for the lead between two Australian’s, Mike Harwood and Peter Fowler who both finished on -5, one in front of Scotland’s Andrew Oldcorn. Handa Senior Masters
The Handa Senior Masters is coming to Stapleford Park this week and the tournament gets under way this Friday the 3rd of June. Ryder cup heroes Sam Torrance and Costantino Rocca and major winners Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam will be taking part and it will surely be a fantastic 3 days of golf right here in Leicestershire. To make things even better for all local golf fans entry is free yes I repeat entry is free. If your a golf fan this really is an opportunity not to be missed.

The New Year Ahead
So here we are the start of a new year and what promises to be an exciting one. The alliance is due to kick off on the 13th of January and we will all be hoping for better weather than what we got in December. The alliance is played each and every Thursday, weather permitting at different courses around the two counties of Leicestershire & Rutland and features both amateur and professional players.
The Leicestershire & Rutland Ladies County teams start their season in April with the second team playing the county veterans team on the 21st at The Leicestershire and the first team playing Willesley men on the 24th we would like to wish the ladies good luck for the season ahead.
The Leicestershire & Rutland county men take on Worcestershire in their first fixture the first team will be away whilst the second team will be playing their home fixture at Lutterworth Golf Club. These ties will be played on Sunday the 13th of March and again we would like to wish the men every success for the forth coming season.
With the new season up and coming the magazine will be getting a fresh new look with the introduction to the team of Tim Beard. Tim will be bringing a wealth of editorial experience with him to the magazine and we are very excited to see the first issue reach the golf courses and shops at the end of January.
The magazine has now been running since August of 2010 and has become a great addition to the local golf scene, over the coming six months we are looking to build on this initial success and grow the magazine month by month both in size and in quality.
We will be offering all businesses some very attractive advertising rates for the coming year and anyone placing an advert with us before the end of February for a minimum of 3 months will be eligible for a 20% discount on the list price. The link below will give you details of all of our rates.

Is that grass I can see?
At last after weeks of freezing temperatures and snow laying on our beloved fairways, the grass is finally back!!
I am sure the courses have been full since we have had the big thaw and club houses full of happy golfers sporting their new golf jumpers. lets hope the weather picks up now and we can get back to the serious business of hitting fairways and greens.
